Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston is our community’s only federally qualified health center exclusively serving those affected by homelessness. For thousands of men, women and children, we serve as a health home providing whole-person care. Our medical services include:

We provide ongoing care addressing a variety of health conditions that encompasses preventative, diagnostic and basic treatment to maintain overall health.

We offer comprehensive and compassionate healthcare tailored to the unique needs of homeless women, encompassing medical, gynecological and reproductive health support in a safe, respectful and non-coercive environment.

We provide specialized and holistic healthcare to children experiencing homelessness, addressing their medical, developmental, and emotional needs while promoting stability and well-being.

HIV screening is a standard of care at all HHH clinics as well as treatment, and prevention services, ensuring early detection, comprehensive care and educational resources to effectively manage HIV.

We provide weekly optometry and ophthalmology care with eye exams, prescription glasses and a twice-yearly vision to promote eye and vision health.
More than 80% of our patients have no form of health insurance and lack a place to call their health home.
Dental Clinic
For those without stable housing or income and no health insurance, dental care often becomes low priority. Maintaining good oral hygiene is a critical factor in overall health and wellbeing, and the services provided by Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston help promote confidence and smiles as individuals are rebuilding their lives.

We provide essential oral health care, promote hygiene, prevent complications and fostering oral well-being among homeless individuals. All services to our dental clinic require a medical exam.

Licensed mental health professionals offer support to address psychological and emotional challenges for those affected by homelessness. Services include counseling, therapy and support groups.

Behavioral health services include a range of interventions aimed at addressing substance use, addiction, and behavioral issues often co-occurring with homelessness. These services empower individuals affected by homelessness to break free from harmful patterns and work towards a healthier, more stable life.

These services provide tailored counseling and support to help individuals break the cycle of addiction and regain control of their lives, fostering their journey toward recovery and stable housing.

Our social services team focuses on connecting to essential resources such as shelter, food, and healthcare while also facilitating access to mental health, addiction treatment, and job training programs. These services aim to holistically address the complex needs of the homeless population, to regain stability and to work toward long-term self-sufficiency.

HOMES Clinic
Houston Outreach, Medicine, Education and Social Services
Operates within Cathedral Clinic at The Beacon on Sundays from 10 am - 2 pm
As the only student-run medical clinic in Houston, we provide high-quality healthcare to our patients and meaningful education for our volunteers. Our services are entirely student-managed with oversight from attending physicians and licensed pharmacists.
Our services span more than 30 miles across ten service locations in the Greater Houston area. Through a longstanding collaborative partnership with SEARCH Homeless Services, New Hope Housing, and Temenos CDC, we provide on-site care to residents within six permanent supportive housing sites across the city. Care teams consist of a Registered Nurse, Behavioral Health Clinician, and Community Health Worker delivering medical, mental health, and care coordination services.

Street Medicine
Weekly, a team consisting of a Physician, Medical Assistant, and Community Health Worker visit individuals who are living unsheltered and provide medical care directly on the streets. Services include assessment, vitals testing, medication evaluations, and linkage to care.
